Why Kind Souls Foundation Exists, and Why It Matters Now More Than Ever

The workers’ compensation industry has long been focused on logistics: claims processing, medical networks, return-to-work timelines. All important pieces. But what often gets overlooked is what happens in between - the human experience of being out of work.
That’s where Kind Souls Foundation comes in.
We are the first and only nonprofit dedicated to offering free emotional support to individuals medically displaced from work. Not therapy. Not crisis response. But warm, consistent connection. A space where someone can pick up the phone and talk to a real person who gets it.
Why does this matter? Because isolation kills. The U.S. Surgeon General recently declared loneliness and isolation a public health epidemic, with the health risks equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes a day. For someone already struggling with medical leave, the sense of being forgotten can compound physical challenges and delay recovery.
Kind Souls Foundation exists to change that story.
Our volunteers offer hope. Our sponsors make access possible. Our partnerships with companies and industry leaders ensure that compassion isn’t an afterthought - it’s built into the way we support people.
And the ripple effects are huge. A caller who feels supported is more likely to stay engaged with their recovery, reconnect with their community, and ultimately, return to work with greater resilience. Employers benefit, families benefit, and most importantly, individuals regain the sense of dignity that medical leave too often strips away.
We started because no one else was filling this gap. And we’ll keep going because every call reminds us: the need is real, and the impact is immediate.
Kind Souls Foundation isn’t just important. It’s essential.
